Sandford was born in Upminster, Essex, to Kevin and Julie Sandford, and has a sister, Victoria Sandford. When Sandford was younger she attended her local primary school in Upminister, and after school hours Sandford spent her time at a private dance school; after finishing school Sandford decided she wanted to go to stage school where she studied in Romford, studying musical arts, she also expressed views in going to the BRIT School.Sandford previously worked in a bar in her local town during the week and had a Saturday job as a sales assistant clothing shop in All Saints concession in House of Fraser, London
Currently a member of girl group The Saturdays; under the record label of Fascination Records and Polydor Records. The band have had huge success with releasing nine singles which eight have charted inside the top-10 on the UK Singles Chart. Including three top-10 albums on the UK Album Charts, which have all gained a certification from the British Phonographic Industry. Sandford has previously been a member in band S Club 8 and released six singles and five of them charting in top-ten of the UK Singles Chart. She also appeared in children's television programme I Dream with them before they disbanded.
Sandford released a solo song with Calvin Goldspink, "Dreaming" which became a hit. She later featured on Kids in Glass Houses song, "Undercover Lover". After featuring on the song, Sandford went on tour with them; The Dirt Tour. She is also known as a style icon after Glamour Magazine often published "Get Frankie's Look" showing you how to get Sandford's style; Due to this Sandford was up for three awards on the Glamour Women of the Year Awards, including (Best Dressed, Woman of the Year and Inspiration. She later won Best Dressed and Inspiration). In 2010, Sandford was voted fourth sexiest woman in the world by FHM, and was voted to have the "best bum" by readers of Zoo magazine. Zoo also voted her as the #1 hottest body in the world.
